Meera Duncan by Hypnosis Hypnotherapist

Meera Duncan

Meera Duncan is a Registered Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapist, Counselling
Therapist, Addictions Counsellor, and bestselling author in private practice in Alberta, Canada. She is known for her integrative approach, combining evidence-based therapeutic methods with clinical hypnosis and a compassionate understanding of the deeper emotional and psychological layers of healing.

In 2022, Meera received an Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) of Advanced Studies in Psychology in recognition of her groundbreaking work with Bipolar Disorder and the development of Environmental Stress Targeting Therapy (EVSTT). This innovative treatment protocol is the first of its kind to address the connection between the stress response and its effects on BD episodes for patients with this disorder. EVSTT is the first psychotherapeutic treatment protocol to incorporate clinical hypnosis, with proven evidence-based results.

Meera is registered with ARCH Canada (The Association of Registered Clinical Hypnotherapists) and ACTA (The Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta). She also serves on the Board of Directors for both ACTA and FACT-Alberta (the Federation of Associations of Counselling Therapists in Alberta).

A Whole-Person Approach to Healing

Meera’s work is rooted in the understanding that emotional, physical, and psychological experiences are deeply interconnected. Symptoms may appear in the mind, the body, or be expressed through unwanted behaviours and responses, yet they often share common underlying stress patterns that can be gently accessed and transformed through therapeutic work with the subconscious mind, where many of these patterns are deeply rooted.

She offers counselling, psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, hypnotherapy, addictions therapy, EFT, and trauma informed approaches to support individuals facing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, chronic pain, and life transitions.

Clients often describe her approach as both clinical and deeply compassionate — focused not only on symptom relief, but on restoring the innate capacity each person holds within themselves to heal.

My Path to Hypnosis

Meera’s path into hypnotherapy was shaped by her own profound healing journey following a severe and traumatic elevator accident in 1998, which resulted in significant physical injuries as well as PTSD and clinical depression.

Hypnosis became a turning point in her recovery, helping to resolve debilitating chronic pain and trauma when other treatments had provided extremely limited relief. This experience inspired a lifelong commitment to helping others access the same capacity for healing within themselves by working therapeutically with the subconscious mind.

Integrating Clinical with an Open Consciousness

Meera has also studied Past-Life Regression with Dr. Brian Weiss in New York, the New York Times bestselling author of “Many Lives, Many Masters,” and maintains an open, respectful approach to each client’s individual spiritual beliefs and experiences. She often integrates regression therapy and clinical hypnosis to support the healing many people seek during challenging times in their lives.

While Meera is grounded in professional clinical practice, she recognizes that healing sometimes involves questions of meaning, identity, purpose, and personal growth beyond symptom reduction alone. Her work stands at the intersection of science and the unseen — honouring both evidence-based therapy and the deeper spiritual dimensions of healing.

At the heart of Meera’s work is the belief that healing is not merely psychological – it can also be spiritual, cellular, and deeply connected to the soul’s evolution.

Writing and Research
Author, Speaker, and Educator

Meera is the author of A Therapist’s Guide to Treating Bipolar Disorder with Hypnosis, An Introduction to Environmental Stress-Targeting Therapy (EVSTT), and a contributing author to an international anthology exploring consciousness and the Soul’s journey, published by The Near Death Institute, Between Earth & Eternity.

She has lectured internationally, including presentations for the Australian Hypnosis Conference and the Mind Research Foundation, speaking to universities and psychology students around the world.

Her work reflects a commitment not only to individual healing, but to advancing the understanding of therapeutic hypnosis within the broader mental health field.

Supporting Your Path Forward
Where Healing and Growth Intersect

Meera is deeply passionate about witnessing the transformation that occurs when people feel heard, supported, and empowered to change patterns that no longer serve them.

Whether you are seeking relief from distress, support through a difficult life chapter, or a deeper sense of emotional well-being, her goal is to help you move toward a more stable, peaceful, and fulfilling life — creating a new path that supports healing, growth, empowerment, and abundance in every facet of life.

When we connect with the subconscious mind, we can begin to soften and release deeply rooted limiting beliefs — and make space for lasting change.
